MERGERS OF SCHOOL

The Uttar Pradesh (U.P.) government is doing two big things at once

1. A Popular New Thing: They have opened 70,000+ new modern. playschools (called Balvatikas) for young children (ages 3-6). This is seen as a good, progressive step for early education.

2. A Controversial Method: To get the space, teachers, and resources for these new playschools, they merged (combined) over 10,000 existing primary schools. This part is very unpopular and has caused a lot of anger.
